Woman Dies After Fight With Younger Sister Over N800 in Ondo
A domestic dispute between two sisters in Akure, the Ondo State capital, turned tragic when one of them lost her life during a quarrel over N800.
Reports indicate that the deceased, 35-year-old Tewogboye Omowumi, and her younger sister, Iluyemi Bosede, got into a heated argument after Bosede demanded a refund of the N800 she had given Omowumi to buy tomatoes and pepper.
The argument reportedly escalated, with Bosede grabbing her sister’s clothes, causing Omowumi to fall. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, confirmed the incident, adding that Bosede has been arrested and is in custody while investigations are ongoing.
In a statement issued, the police imagemaker said
“This unfortunate outcome underscores how trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences if not peacefully managed.”
CP Lawal called on residents to settle disputes peacefully through dialogue and avoid violence, assuring that the police will ensure justice is served in the case.
