Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Friday that President Bola Tinubu has successfully quieted political critics through a massive rollout of infrastructure across Abuja. Wike emphasized that the administration’s physical achievements serve as the ultimate defense against detractors.
During the unveiling of the newly reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in the Kubwa area, Wike remarked that the current administration’s performance leaves opponents with little to criticize. He argued that residents now have tangible proof of progress to present to any critics, effectively forcing them to justify their own past failures.
This event marked the conclusion of a 31-day streak of project commissions that ran from June 9 to July 17, 2026. Wike highlighted that this period of sustained development is unique in Nigerian history, with over 53 projects completed during his tenure under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the government has shifted its focus from empty promises to verifiable actions that improve the lives of residents.
Addressing the crowd, Wike insisted that governance should be measured by the happiness and economic prosperity of the public. Improved infrastructure, such as the rehabilitated Arab/Gbazango road, is intended to boost local commerce and ease daily travel for traders and business owners. While the current commissioning phase is concluding, Wike promised that at least 10 more projects are slated for unveiling before the end of the year.
Responding to local concerns regarding water shortages, the minister instructed the Federal Capital Development Authority to prioritize solutions immediately. He concluded that his team would pause briefly to regroup before resuming their aggressive push for urban development in the capital.
