A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporting Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has assumed control of the party’s Oyo State secretariat. The facility, situated in the Molete district of Ibadan, had previously been under the management of a group aligned with Governor Seyi Makinde. This transition occurred on Thursday as a large number of Wike supporters gathered to occupy the building.
Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, identified as the PDP state chairman, verified the occurrence. During a brief phone interview on Thursday, Akinoso maintained that the rightful members had reclaimed the office. He asserted that the group currently in charge represents the true party and confirmed that they had successfully established control over the location earlier in the day.
