Wigan Warriors ascended to third place in the Super League following a gritty comeback victory against Hull FC at the MKM Stadium. Despite an initial struggle, Matt Peet’s squad rallied to secure the points.
The first half saw a determined Hull side capitalize on Wigan’s uncharacteristic mistakes. Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron both crossed the line for the hosts, with Zach Eckersley providing the sole response for Wigan, leaving the score at 10-4 at the interval. Wigan’s difficulties were compounded by early injuries to Liam Farrell and Luke Thompson.
After the restart, Noah Hodkinson narrowed the deficit, but Jed Cartwright responded to push Hull’s lead to 16-8. Wigan eventually found their rhythm as Adam Keighran scored a try and added a conversion, before later kicking a penalty to level the match at 16-16. With less than eight minutes remaining, Harry Smith executed a clever piece of play to score the decisive try, completing the comeback.
The result leaves Hull in 10th place following their 11th loss of the campaign, while Wigan remains within reach of the league-leading Leeds Rhinos.
