Wigan Warriors have extended their flawless 2026 campaign by soundly defeating St Helens in the inaugural match of the newly established Super Four format. This victory marks five consecutive wins against their rivals over the past year, cementing Wigan’s status as the dominant force in the Women’s Super League.
The defending champions displayed clinical form at the BrewDog Stadium, tallying nine tries. Ellise Derbyshire and Eva Hunter both contributed two scores each, while teammates Anna Davies, Molly Jones, Remi Wilton, Jenna Foubister, and Mary Coleman also added to the tally. For St Helens, the night proved difficult, with their only response being a try from Luci McColm just before halftime.
The match began with early momentum for the visitors, as Derbyshire capitalized on a spilled ball from Liv Leach. Shortly after, Hunter showcased impressive athleticism to break through the defense for an individual try. Despite losing Leach to injury, St Helens struggled to contain the pressure as Wigan continued to add scores. Although McColm provided a brief glimmer of hope before the break, Wigan resumed their dominance in the second half, with Jones scoring in her first appearance since returning from a knee injury, followed by late tries from Wilton, Foubister, and Coleman.
The current 2026 Super Four structure divides the league into two sections of four teams to increase competitive intensity. The top side after the six remaining fixtures will earn an automatic spot in the Grand Final, while second and third place will compete in a play-off.
