A record number of Welsh cricketers are set to compete in the sixth season of The Hundred, marking the country’s most significant involvement in the competition to date. Six players will feature across different franchises, aiming to bring success to their respective teams.
Three of these athletes will play for the Welsh Fire, which remains one of three teams yet to secure a title. Among them are Newport-born Ben Kellaway and captain Phil Salt, a North Wales native who currently holds the record for the most runs in tournament history. They are joined by Sophia Smale, an all-rounder who previously won the title with the Oval Invincibles and will now represent her home franchise.
Elsewhere, Cardiff-born Kiran Carlson and Seren Smale will compete for London Spirit. Carlson brings impressive form from a strong season with Glamorgan, while Seren Smale looks to build on her international experience with England. Finally, Swansea-born Aneurin Donald will represent the Trent Rockets, contributing his skills as a powerful top-order batsman to the 2022 champions.
