WAFCON 2026: The Semi-final Matchups are Set

The semi-final stage of the 2026 WAFCON is set, featuring Cameroon, Morocco, Malawi, and Algeria following a decisive weekend of quarter-final action.

The semi-final pairings for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations are official following the conclusion of the quarter-final round this past Sunday.

Cameroon advanced after securing a 1-0 victory against the defending titleholders, Nigeria, courtesy of a lone goal from Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen. They are set to challenge the tournament hosts, Morocco, in the next stage.

Meanwhile, Malawi achieved a historic milestone by defeating Ghana 2-1, a result that also guarantees the team their first-ever appearance at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Although Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah gave Ghana an early lead, Temwa Chawinga leveled the score in the 12th minute. Rose Kadzere later secured the win for Malawi, who will now square off against Algeria in the semi-finals.
