Arc. Dr. Kaycee Orji-Kelechi, Chairman of The Roxettes Group, has revealed plans to collaborate with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to create the Dr. Kaycee Orji Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Smart/Green Mobility and Digital Innovation. Announced during his honorary doctorate convocation, Orji-Kelechi described the project as a strategic investment in human capital rather than just a building.
The facility aims to be a primary African hub for research and entrepreneurship. It will house five specialized laboratories focusing on AI, machine learning, green mobility, robotics, the Internet of Things, financial technology, and cloud computing. To support this, he introduced the Kaycee Orji Founders Innovation Challenge, a yearly initiative meant to mentor and provide funding for student and faculty-led startups.
K.KH Contractors Ltd., a division of The Roxettes Group, has already started preliminary designs for the center. Formal discussions regarding site selection and project implementation are set to begin soon with university leadership. Orji-Kelechi emphasized that his goal is to shift Africa’s status from a technology consumer to a creator, encouraging students to use their education to solve real-world problems and foster local industrial growth.
