Law enforcement officials in Taraba State have taken two individuals into custody regarding the homicide of a union official responsible for distributing tricycle tickets. The event took place on Wednesday at the Angwan Kassa junction, located on the outskirts of Jalingo.
Reports indicate that the victim engaged in a dispute with a tricycle operator after attempting to enforce the purchase of a required daily union pass. This argument turned aggressive, leading to the official being stabbed; he subsequently succumbed to his wounds. The incident prompted significant concern among local residents.
ASP Victor Mshelizah, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police, confirmed that the two detainees are currently being questioned as part of an active investigation. Legal proceedings are expected to follow once the police conclude their inquiries. In response to the violence, local tricycle drivers have halted operations along the route between Area Command Junction, Angwan Kassa, and Deeper Life Camp, leaving many commuters without transportation.
