Two security personnel lost their lives after an ambush on the Ganawuri-Sabon Gida road in Plateau State, resulting in the theft of their service rifles.

An armed group attacked a combined security patrol on the Ganawuri-Sabon Gida road located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. During the assault, two security members were killed, and their service weapons were stolen.

According to security insiders, the event took place early Tuesday morning. Four officers had established a checkpoint along the road. The tragedy was discovered when two of the men failed to return to their stations, triggering a search by their peers. Their remains were later found at the ambush site. While their rifles were taken, the motorcycle used by the patrol team was recovered.

In response, security forces initiated a search of nearby areas to locate the perpetrators and retrieve the missing firearms. The names of the deceased remain unconfirmed at this time.
