Governor Seyi Makinde has ordered a 16-hour daily curfew for 10 local government areas in Oyo State for 48 hours to mitigate rising security risks near the Old Oyo National Park.

Starting Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Oyo State government is implementing a 16-hour daily curfew in 10 local government areas. Governor Seyi Makinde sanctioned the order, which mandates residents to stay indoors between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. This restriction will initially last for 48 hours.

Professor Musibau Babatunde, the Secretary to the State Government, clarified that the move is a response to emerging security threats near the Old Oyo National Park. The government intends for this temporary measure to protect local residents and their property.

The specific areas included in this directive are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba. Authorities have asked the public to follow the rules strictly and work alongside security forces on the ground. Officials plan to re-evaluate the security climate once the initial two-day period concludes.
