Two Nigerians identified simply as Collins and Osas have reportedly died in Tripoli, Libya, under circumstances suspected to be linked to poisoning.
The victims, who were residents of Misrata, had travelled to Tripoli on July 20 with a friend whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
According to sources, after spending several days there, the friend urged them to return to Misrata. However, Collins and Osas allegedly chose to remain in Tripoli. The friend then left them behind and later claimed he received a call informing him that the two had died from suspected food poisoning.
The trio had visited a place in Tripoli called Oshofana described as a hub for various deals. “After four days, the friend returned home, but Collins and Osas stayed. Two days later, he said he got a call that they had died of poisoning,” the source said.
Another source in Libya suggested that the explanation given by the friend has fueled doubts within the Nigerian community, as Oshofana is known for questionable activities. “Some of our colleagues are not satisfied with his account and are following up with investigations to uncover the true cause of death,” the source added.
The deceased have since been buried in Libya.

Separately, LIB reported that one of the victims was a Nigerian popularly known as “Coded Parapara,” who also died in Tripoli during the same period, allegedly from poisoning.
