Two Commercial Motorcyclists Arraigned In Ondo For Alleged Rape Of 17-Year-Old
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has arraigned two commercial motorcyclists before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl.
The accused, Tope Ademeso and Igbekele Akinsioye, both residents of Continental Street, Akure, were charged with conspiracy and rape.
Prosecuting counsel O.F. Akeredolu told the court that the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, around 10 p.m. at the defendants’ residence in Akure. He alleged that the two men conspired to unlawfully have sexual intercourse with the minor.
According to the charge sheet, the offences contravene Section 516 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State 2006, and Section 3 of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021.
Due to the gravity of the allegations, the court did not take the defendants’ pleas. Akeredolu further urged the court to remand the suspects in custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
However, defence counsel Godwin Bernard argued that the matter was a dispute over payment after consensual intercourse, insisting his clients were innocent of the allegations. He urged the court to reject the remand request and grant bail on lenient terms.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni adjourned the case until September 1 for ruling on the bail application and ordered the defendants to be remanded at Olokuta Correctional Facility in the meantime.
