U.S. President Donald Trump warned Hamas that if the group continues to execute Palestinians—actions shown in recently shared videos—“we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” he wrote on Truth Social.
He later clarified in the Oval Office that he did not intend for U.S. forces to carry out such an operation, saying other actors “very close, very nearby” could act under U.S. auspices.
Trump, who earlier hailed the ceasefire as effectively “over” and had downplayed initial reports of Hamas cracking down on gangs, said the group must adhere to the terms of a U.S.-proposed 20-point peace plan that calls for Hamas to surrender weapons and cede power.
Under the plan, fighters wishing to leave Gaza would be offered safe passage.
Instead, footage has circulated showing apparent public executions and clashes between Hamas and rival Palestinian groups as Israeli forces withdraw.
Speaking with Argentina’s President Javier Milei, Trump reiterated that Hamas must disarm and warned that, if it refuses, “we will disarm them,” suggesting the process could be rapid and violent.
