Tottenham Hotspur are prioritizing a move for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes. This development follows a rejected offer for Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United. Negotiations regarding the 21-year-old Portuguese player are reportedly moving in a positive direction, leaving club officials hopeful that a deal will soon be finalized.
West Ham has placed an 80 million pound price tag on Fernandes, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. Tottenham previously attempted to sign Tonali for a similar fee, but Newcastle turned down the approach. Tonali remains committed to Newcastle with four years remaining on his current contract.
Manager Roberto de Zerbi continues to bolster his squad this summer. Having already secured four new signings, the club recently confirmed an agreement to bring in goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Burnley on a free transfer. This addition follows the arrivals of Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Jan Paul van Hecke, representing a significant defensive overhaul for the London club.
