Three men were lynched by a mob in Emu Orakwan community, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, after being accused of kidnapping and murder.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. on October 6, 2025, when hunters and farmers reportedly spotted the suspects at Akabueze camp.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the men were believed to be involved in the killing of Mrs. Ogbonna, a mother of three, whose body was found on October 1 with multiple stab wounds. Her death had sparked anger and calls for justice within the community.
Upon receiving the information, residents mobilized and attacked the suspects before security personnel could arrive.
“These animals have been terrorizing us for months, kidnapping our women, demanding ransoms we can’t pay, and now this,” a farmer said.
Army troops and police officers reached the scene to find the suspects critically injured. They were taken to the General Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Their bodies were later moved to Imiuwuguina Mortuary. Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident.
