An armed group launched a violent assault on Yankamaye village in the Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and triggering a mass exodus of terrified residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants arrived late at night and fired weapons indiscriminately, plunging the neighborhood into chaos. Saifullahi Sulaiman Sorodaya, a local inhabitant, explained that the sudden outburst of violence left villagers with no choice but to escape.
Sani Bala, the House of Representatives member for the Ghari and Tsanyawa Federal Constituency, verified the tragedy through an online statement. He confirmed the recovery of three bodies and voiced his worry regarding the declining security conditions in the district.
Local resident Madahuru Isah Ibrahim added that multiple people suffered injuries during the raid and were subsequently transported to a medical facility for urgent care. In response to the violence, members of the community are urging law enforcement to bolster their presence in the area to deter future hostilities.
