Law enforcement officials in Thailand are actively examining the circumstances behind a horrific school shooting that resulted in eight fatalities and the perpetrator’s own death. According to police, the 14-year-old shooter taught himself weapon handling techniques through online content rather than formal training.
Authorities believe the student’s actions may have been influenced by a combination of academic stress, domestic issues, and exposure to violent media. Police official Atthapol Anusit confirmed that 17 individuals have been interviewed as part of the investigation. The teenager initially targeted his grandparents at home using a handgun belonging to his grandfather before proceeding to the Debsirin Nonthaburi School to attack staff and students.
Investigators discovered a knife and a mobile device in the boy’s bag, and evidence from his home computer showed frequent engagement with violent online material. Forensic reports noted that the shots fired were remarkably accurate, hitting vital areas of the victims. While the teen had not attended a professional firing range, a teacher had previously seized a BB gun the boy attempted to bring to campus.
The boy had lived with his grandparents since childhood. While some described him as a high-achieving student and an avid gamer, others noted potential friction at home. As the country mourns, the government has pledged to tighten national firearm regulations.
