Tanzid Hasan Tamim achieved a historic milestone by becoming the inaugural Bangladesh player to record a Test century on Australian soil. During the second day of the match in Darwin, the 25-year-old opener anchored the visitors’ performance with a resilient 101 from 197 deliveries. Bangladesh finished the day at 351-6, establishing a lead of 153 runs.
Reflecting on the achievement, Hasan described the innings as a deeply personal and special moment, noting his comfort with the improving pitch conditions. He initially resumed the day on 32 and formed a 102-run partnership with Mominul Haque, who contributed 49 runs before being removed by Josh Hazlewood. Subsequently, Hasan shared a 93-run stand with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Though Hasan was eventually dismissed by Nathan Lyon, caught by Mitchell Starc, his contribution proved vital in challenging the Australian attack under intense heat at the Marrara Oval. Despite Australia claiming three wickets with the new ball after the tea break, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Hasan Mahmud remained at the crease to build an unbeaten 43-run partnership.
