Tom Gorringe, the chief executive of Swansea City, believes the club finally possesses the necessary structure to thrive as the new season approaches. Gorringe, who previously served as the chief executive of Bristol Rovers, joined Swansea in February 2025 as chief operating officer before stepping into his current leadership role one month later.
Swansea prepares for its upcoming Carabao Cup match against Birmingham City this Saturday, followed by the start of their Championship campaign against Stoke City. Reflecting on his initial arrival, Gorringe recalled a demoralizing 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in February 2025, describing a pervasive sense of apathy within the stadium at that time.
Since then, the club has undergone significant personnel shifts and management changes. Following the departures of Luke Williams and subsequent periods under Alan Sheehan and Vitor Matos, the club secured an 11th-place finish last season. The appointment of sporting director Ben Stevens in June and consecutive busy transfer windows have signaled a shift in strategy. Gorringe emphasized that the required changes were essential to restore confidence and build a team capable of competing at the highest levels. He expressed satisfaction that the organization is now properly aligned to progress, noting that they have successfully recruited the right individuals to move the club forward.
