Ethan Galbraith is set to depart Swansea City following the club’s decision to accept an eight-figure transfer bid from Stoke City. The 25-year-old Northern Ireland midfielder is scheduled to complete a medical examination in Stoke this Tuesday.
Although Swansea hoped to secure the former Manchester United player with a long-term contract extension, Galbraith indicated he would not sign a new deal. Despite his current agreement running until 2028, club officials chose to allow the transfer rather than retain an unwilling player. This development arrives as a significant setback for head coach Vitor Matos just as the team prepares for pre-season training. Since arriving from Leyton Orient for £1.5 million last year, Galbraith featured in 44 matches and scored four goals for the Swans, often filling in at right-back.
