Captain Fran Williams expressed disappointment, noting that the team failed to handle Australia’s physical style of play. Australia built an early lead, ending the first quarter 18-11 ahead and reaching 56-35 by the third. Sophie Garbin led the Australian offense with 41 goals, while Olivia Tchine provided 23 goals for England. Eleanor Cardwell, who entered the match in the final quarter, added 10 goals during her time on court.
Interim head coach Anna Stembridge is leading a squad featuring mostly new talent, following several injuries and personnel changes. England aims to recover in their next match against Malawi. Meanwhile, in other competition news, Scotland secured a 56-47 victory over Wales.
