Suspected cult member apprehended by police in Kwara state

Kwara state police have arrested Agboola Olamilekan for alleged cult involvement and seized a locally made firearm following a joint security operation in Ilorin.

Law enforcement officers have taken a man named Agboola Olamilekan into custody in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state, on suspicion of being involved in cult activities. The arrest took place during a coordinated security mission that resulted in the seizure of a locally manufactured firearm.

SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the development on Wednesday. She noted that the capture was achieved through a combined effort involving police officers, various security agencies, and the security division at Kwara State Polytechnic. This initiative is part of a larger plan to stop illegal weapons distribution and suppress cult violence within the state.

Ojo Adekimi, the Commissioner of Police, stated that the department is dedicated to maintaining this operational pressure to ensure community safety. Authorities are currently investigating to locate other associates connected to Olamilekan. The command aims to continue utilizing intelligence-driven strategies to dismantle criminal organizations in alignment with the directives of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
