Suspect Flees as Katsina Security Intercepts 610 Rounds of Ammunition

The Katsina State Community Watch Corps, a state-operated security unit, intercepted a commercial vehicle in Batsari town carrying a large stash of ammunition.

Following a tip-off, the corps stopped the vehicle with the license plate BTR 45 XA at approximately 7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 10.

Upon inspection, they discovered 610 rounds of ammunition hidden under a seat. This cache included rounds for AK-47 and General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), as well as two magazines.

A suspect, described as a man in white robes, displayed suspicious behavior during the journey but managed to evade capture during the inspection.

The Katsina State government has commended the Community Watch Corps for their vigilance and commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.

Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, expressed the government’s pledge to continue supporting and enhancing the capabilities of security agencies to effectively combat crime.
