Suspect appears in court following summer solstice homicide

A man has been charged with murder following the death of 26-year-old Isaac Clare-Watts at a summer solstice event in the Peak District.

A 23-year-old man has faced court proceedings following the death of Isaac Clare-Watts during a summer solstice gathering in the Peak District. Derbyshire Police initiated a homicide investigation after discovering the 26-year-old Nottingham man deceased at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees on June 22.

Szymon Babynko, a Polish national residing in London, has been formally charged with the murder of Mr. Clare-Watts. During his appearance at Derby Justice Centre, Babynko also faced charges linked to a separate incident in Chesterfield involving attempted murder and the possession of a weapon. The defendant was remanded into custody by District Judge Jonathan Taff until his upcoming appearance at Derby Crown Court. Previously, a 41-year-old individual who was initially detained in connection with the case was granted bail. Authorities continue to request that anyone with relevant information submit it through the major incident public portal.
