Chief Sunday Adeyemo, widely recognized as Sunday Igboho, has successfully led a rescue operation for a woman and her son who were kidnapped from Igbope in the Oorelope area of Oyo State. The victims, Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and her child, Abdulmalik, were recovered in Kwara State after a collaborative mission between the Iru Ekun Security Network and the Nigeria Police Force’s Intelligence Response Team.
A statement from Igboho’s office clarified that the effort spanned three days of intense tracking and intelligence gathering. Security forces used a ransom drop as a ruse to draw out the perpetrators. A firefight erupted when the kidnappers arrived to collect the payment, eventually forcing the criminals to retreat into the woods and abandon their hostages.
Igboho noted that he and a team including ASP Amos Ajegoke monitored the suspects’ movements until they reached a location near Bode Sadu. Following the intense pursuit, the team located the hostages by following their cries for help. Both victims are presently being treated at the Igboho General Hospital.
Igboho highlighted the critical assistance provided by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, whose coordination with the police commissioners in Kwara and Niger States facilitated the mission’s success. He reiterated his dedication to the security of the Oke-Ogun region and urged citizens to rely only on verified information while supporting lawful anti-crime initiatives.
