Controversial singer Speed Darlington has issued an apology to his fans following widespread backlash over a viral video in which he admitted to sleeping with a 15-year-old girl in a hotel.
In a new video posted on his social media page, Speed Darlington explained that as an artist, controversy helps boost attention and sales. He revealed that the provocative video was part of a strategy to promote a new song by stirring up conversation around sensitive topics.
‘’All my followers pissed off about the video I recorded in which I spoke about me sleeping with a 15-year-old, I am an artist. I need controversy to eat. If you are not trending, you are not getting booked. Simple! Nobody is booking something that is not trending.
I have a new song now. The song is talking about fuck this, fuck that. This is my genre. I do not perform Christian music. When I dropped my song, I need fuck contents to push it,. That is what I was doing. Don’t give it more like than it is supposed to have.

He expressed regret and apologized to his fans and anyone who was offended by the original video.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media are demanding that authorities invite Speed Darlington for questioning in connection with his disturbing comments.
