Soldiers under Operation FANSAN YAMMA intercepted six stolen cattle and seized 165,000 Naira during a targeted mission in Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The operation also resulted in the detention of four individuals suspected of working with the Lakurawa terrorist group.
Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the details on Friday. Sector 2 troops executed the raid at Darusa Village Market on Thursday morning after receiving reports that criminals were attempting to sell illicitly obtained livestock. Military personnel acted quickly to apprehend the suspects before the sale concluded. Beyond the cash and cattle, two mobile phones were confiscated as evidence of their illegal activities.
The four arrested men include Usman Bammo, Muhammadu Dage, Ali Usman, and Abubakar Garba, who originate from various parts of the North-West region. Officials suggest these men are linked to the Lakurawa network, a group known for livestock theft and other violence in the area. The suspects are currently held by the military pending their transfer to relevant authorities for formal investigation and prosecution.
