Sokoto Government Greenlights Infrastructure Projects Across Multiple Sectors
During its inaugural meeting of 2026, the Sokoto State Executive Council sanctioned a series of infrastructure projects covering education, transportation, security, health, and religion to improve public service delivery.
For the higher education sector, 336.6 million Naira was allocated to refurbish the Vice-Chancellor’s residence and staff housing at Sokoto City University. Additionally, 179.3 million Naira will transform the clinic at the State College of Basic and Remedial Studies into a full primary healthcare center.
The government also committed over 956 million Naira to renovate Government Secondary School Trike and develop a center for out-of-school children.
In the transport and health sectors, officials approved 78.34 million Naira for upgrading Sokoto State Transport Authority facilities. Furthermore, 221.9 million Naira was earmarked to finalize the construction of the Wamakko General Hospital, a facility previously left unfinished.
Religious and community developments include 144.6 million Naira for building a central Jumaat mosque in Shuni and finishing a mosque at the NSCDC headquarters. Meanwhile, the council approved 141.97 million Naira for building a mechanical workshop and security outposts in Gwadabawa to bolster local agricultural productivity and public safety.
State officials emphasized that all approved initiatives are expected to be finished within their designated timeframes, with no anticipated changes to the projected costs.
