The Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially instructed its election candidates to refrain from attaching campaign advertisements to roundabouts and various public landmarks. This decision follows reports that recent urban beautification projects in the state capital were being marred by unauthorized political signage.
State APC Chairman, Haruna S. G. Adiya, condemned the practice, characterizing it as irresponsible behavior that conflicts with the party’s dedication to urban aesthetics and environmental maintenance. Through a statement released by Publicity Secretary Mohammed Umar, Adiya highlighted that such actions represent a form of visual pollution and a blatant lack of respect for state-funded infrastructure.
The party leadership has issued a firm demand for all political hopefuls to clear any existing posters from these sites immediately. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in disciplinary measures as outlined in the party’s internal regulations. The APC aims to uphold public property standards and expects its members to campaign in a manner that aligns with environmental and legal guidelines.
