Emergency teams from the Kano State Fire Service successfully pulled 16 people from the debris of a residential structure in the Dan Dishe area of Fagge Local Government. The emergency call arrived early on Saturday, August 8, 2026, around 4:32 am, prompted by a report from Aminu Sani Warure.
Upon reaching the site, rescue crews assessed that the destroyed building spanned roughly 20 by 30 feet. Out of the total victims, thirteen were recovered while conscious, such as fifteen-year-old Al-Mustapha Yusuf, ten-year-old Ummusalama Yusuf, nine-year-old Hafsat Yusuf, seven-year-old Khadija Yusuf, and six-year-old Madina Yusuf. Eight additional individuals were also pulled to safety.
Three other children—five-year-old Affan Yusuf, seven-year-old Hassana Yusuf, and nine-month-old Ummulkursum Yusuf—were discovered in an unconscious state. Every survivor was placed in the care of Usman Ibrahim, who is the uncle of the children, to ensure they received follow-up medical support. Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine what triggered the structural failure.
