Serena Williams Returns to Wimbledon to Face Maya Joint

Serena Williams returns to competitive singles tennis at Wimbledon against Maya Joint, while British star Emma Raducanu faces fitness questions ahead of her first-round match.

Tennis icon Serena Williams is preparing for her long-awaited singles return at Wimbledon. She will open her campaign in the first round against Australian player Maya Joint, who currently holds the world number 53 ranking.

Now 44 years old, the seven-time champion received a wildcard entry to resume her career. Williams has not participated in a competitive singles match since the 2022 US Open. Meanwhile, British number one Emma Raducanu, entering as the 30th seed, is scheduled to meet Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic in her opener. However, doubts remain regarding Raducanu’s physical condition after she skipped a training session on Thursday due to a shin issue. If she advances, Raducanu might encounter top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the third round, mirroring their matchup from the previous year at the All England Club.
