Nomination Secured for 2027
Ekong Sampson, the current senator for the Akwa Ibom South district, has officially received the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination to run again. He faced no opposition during the selection process for the 2027 general elections.
Addressing reporters in Uyo on Tuesday, Sampson expressed his gratitude to the district for the peaceful conduct of the primary election. He stated that his primary goal upon returning to the Senate is to strengthen his legislative partnership with the people he represents.
The senator also acknowledged the guidance of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno for their efforts in maintaining stability across the state. Furthermore, he extended his appreciation to his constituents for their ongoing support.
Sampson’s political history began as a councillor in the early 2000s. Since then, he has held various public offices, including serving as the Head of Council in Mkpat Enin, a representative in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and a state commissioner across several ministries.
