Soldiers from Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, working alongside the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, successfully eliminated two suspected terrorists and freed three individuals held against their will. The mission took place in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area following a intelligence-driven approach.
The two-day mission focused on militant hideouts situated in the Tse Togo and Utenge areas, near the Orter Camp. Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, acting as the media representative for the operation, confirmed that a intense firefight occurred, resulting in the fatalities of two suspects and the safe recovery of the captives.
The rescued individuals include a teacher named Nyityo Abraham, a merchant identified as Uzuegwu Chukwuemeka, and a farmer named Terhember Tavarshima. Reports indicated that additional captives fled during the skirmish. Military personnel seized several weapons during the raid, including an AK-47, a G3 rifle, a pistol, substantial amounts of ammunition, a POS machine, and various military-style uniforms.
Major General Moses Gara, who commands the task force, praised the soldiers for their professional conduct. He reiterated the military’s dedication to eradicating criminal activity and expressed gratitude toward local residents and fellow security organizations for their ongoing assistance in securing the region.
