Saracens claim historic fourth league title with dominant win

Saracens secured their fourth league title with a 52-14 win over Trailfinders, as Marlie Packer marked her final appearance for the club with two tries.

Marlie Packer bid farewell to Saracens in spectacular fashion, scoring two tries to help her team secure a record-breaking fourth league championship. The north London squad overwhelmed first-time finalists Trailfinders with a decisive 52-14 victory at the Twickenham Stoop.

The former England captain, who is transitioning to Harlequins following a nine-year tenure at Saracens, secured her two scores within an eight-minute flurry during the first half. Under the guidance of Alex Austerberry, the team maintained control throughout the Premiership Women’s Rugby final.

Saracens established a 26-0 advantage by halftime after crossing the line four times. They matched that output in the second half, highlighted by a standout solo effort from England international Jess Breach. This victory moves Saracens past Gloucester-Hartpury to become the most decorated club in English women’s rugby, having previously won the title in 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Although Trailfinders entered the final with high hopes after knocking out the defending champions, they were no match for the experience and depth of the Saracens roster. Featuring elite talent like Sophie de Goede and Zoe Harrison, Saracens proved why they finished the regular season with a 25-point lead over their opponents, effectively redeeming themselves after falling short in last year’s championship match.
