Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has directed security forces to apprehend individuals involved in the recent vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge. The governor condemned the act as barbaric and unacceptable, emphasizing that the state will not permit the destruction of essential public property.
Following reports of the damage, the Office of Infrastructure conducted an inspection. Officials confirmed that the bridge’s structural integrity is currently stable. The governor promised that repair efforts will begin promptly to safeguard the columns.
Addressing the public, Sanwo-Olu stated that those guilty of this shameful conduct will face legal consequences. He urged Lagosians to stay alert and notify the authorities of any suspicious behavior near public installations. The governor reiterated that such violence against infrastructure has no place in the state.
