Rivers Governor Fubara Advocates for God-Fearing Leadership in Nigeria

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara argues that Nigeria’s path to development depends on leaders who possess a genuine fear of God, as he hosts the global head of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has emphasized that Nigeria requires leaders guided by the fear of God to achieve genuine national progress. He shared these sentiments on Thursday while hosting the World President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Erton Kohler, along with his family and fellow church leadership at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Fubara lauded the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its significant efforts in the educational sector, specifically highlighting their operation of two universities within the country. He noted that these institutions are vital for both spreading faith and cultivating the next generation of capable leaders. According to the Governor, religious practice should prioritize societal welfare rather than mere theological defense. He argued that the current struggles with corruption, poverty, and social inequality stem from a lack of divine reverence among those in power.

The Governor further explained that when leaders lack a sense of divine accountability, they often cross ethical boundaries. He advocated for a society that ensures affordable quality education, accessible healthcare, and housing security for workers, suggesting that such stability would effectively curb crime and social unrest. Pastor Erton Kohler, who is visiting Nigeria for a major leadership conference, thanked the Governor for his hospitality. Kohler noted that his organization oversees over 24 million members globally and remains dedicated to empowering its ministers to serve their communities effectively.
