Relatives of late actor Mr Ibu detail severe financial hardship

The family of the late comedian John Ikechukwu Okafor, known as Mr Ibu, reports that they are facing extreme poverty, including the discontinuation of the children’s education and a lack of basic utilities.

The kin of the deceased Nollywood legend John Ikechukwu Okafor, widely recognized as Mr Ibu, have shared details regarding their dire circumstances following his passing. During an interview with digital content creator King Mitchy, family members disclosed that the late actor’s three children have been forced to leave their educational institutions due to a lack of funds.

The household is currently enduring life without basic utilities. The children’s mother explained that they have been without electricity for two months and lack access to running water, forcing them to rely on a well. She noted that finding places to charge their mobile phones has become a daily struggle. Additionally, the mother revealed that the school administration has contacted her regarding significant unpaid tuition balances.

Mr Ibu’s daughter expressed deep gratitude toward her mother for the sacrifices made to keep the family together. She issued a heartfelt plea to the public and her father’s former professional colleagues for financial support. Okafor, who was 62, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Lagos following a cardiac arrest. This tragedy followed his difficult health battle in late 2023, which involved an amputation and multiple surgical procedures.
