President Bola Tinubu has formally requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission and various security branches facilitate a fair and orderly election in Osun State. On Saturday, August 15, 2026, residents will participate in a gubernatorial race featuring 15 contenders. Notable participants include incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, APC representative Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam.
Addressing the voters, the President encouraged citizens to fulfill their civic duties while maintaining peace. He guaranteed that necessary safety measures are in place to protect individuals throughout the voting period. Tinubu emphasized that this off-cycle election serves as a vital indicator of readiness for the upcoming 2027 national polls.
The President has directed the Inspector-General of Police and regional security heads to prioritize the safety of electoral staff and the public.
