President Bola Tinubu has stated that the ongoing construction of road networks across Federal Capital Territory (FCT) satellite towns is designed to invigorate the local economy. Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, the President made these remarks on Monday while officially opening the newly upgraded Karu township roads.
Tinubu noted that this project fulfills his commitment to reducing urban traffic and improving the daily lives of FCT residents. He characterized the infrastructure upgrade as a key component of his Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at modernizing the nation’s capital. The President highlighted that the Karu corridor, a vital link between the FCT and neighboring states, had long been plagued by congestion that hindered productivity. By rehabilitating these routes, the administration aims to restore economic vitality to the area.
The President praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his determined supervision of the project and his effective execution of the urban renewal plan. Furthermore, Tinubu commended the local firm, Abdul-Val Constructions Limited, for delivering high-quality work on schedule, proving that Nigerian businesses can meet global standards.
Minister Wike encouraged residents to value these government improvements regardless of their political affiliations, noting that the infrastructure serves everyone equally. He also lauded the contractor for his dedication, noting that the company continued work despite payment delays, showing a rare commitment to the administration’s goals.
Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, explained that the project, awarded in August 2025, covers several key routes including the DSS, NIA, and Hospital roads. He added that these improvements will enhance traffic flow, drainage, and security for the densely populated Karu district, effectively reducing travel time to the city center to under ten minutes.
