Policymakers and regulators pledge to uphold Nigeria’s sustainable energy future.

Nigeria’s drive for a sustainable energy future gained momentum as government officials and regulators pledged continued support for sector growth at the 2025 Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) in Lagos.

With the theme “Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources and Policy”, the event brought together key stakeholders, including ministers, industry leaders, and regulators, to tackle Africa’s energy challenges amidst the global transition.

The Ministers of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo and Heineken Lokpobiri, along with NNPC’s Group Chief Executive, Bayo Ojulari, emphasized the importance of technology, human capital, and policy reforms in boosting productivity, cutting emissions, and ensuring energy security. Lokpobiri specifically called on engineering and procurement firms to return to Nigeria, highlighting new investment-friendly reforms.

Regulatory leaders, Farouk Ahmed and Gbenga Komolafe, stressed the roles of clear policies, local content development, and supply chain resilience. Komolafe also reported progress in oil production and regulatory initiatives aimed at unlocking new investment.

The conference underscored collaboration as essential, with a shared focus on training, innovation, and sustainable development. As Ekpo noted, moving Nigeria from energy poverty to energy security requires inclusive partnerships—from professionals to the private sector.

Though challenges remain, the unified stance signals a strong shift from promises to actionable progress in securing Nigeria’s energy future.
