Law enforcement officials are currently engaged in a mission to liberate more than 100 residents kidnapped from the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. State Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo shared this update during a media briefing in Ilorin this Friday.
While specific tactical details remain confidential to protect the ongoing operation, Ojo emphasized that the matter is a top priority. He promised that the authorities are doing everything possible to recover the captives, who have been held by armed groups for nearly five months.
Previous reports indicate that communities such as Woro and Nuku pooled together more than N100 million in ransom payments, yet the criminals failed to release the victims. Furthermore, the bandits have issued violent threats to kill the hostages or force the younger victims into marriage if their additional demands remain unmet. These kidnappings follow a violent February assault that resulted in multiple fatalities and significant property destruction within the region.
