Law enforcement authorities have dismantled a kidnapping network linked to numerous abductions and homicides near the border of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State. The operation was announced on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anietie Iniedu.
Between June 24 and June 26, 2026, members of the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad conducted a series of intelligence-driven raids in Gbagalape and Mararaba. These efforts resulted in the apprehension of two individuals, identified as 25-year-old Buhari Adamu and 28-year-old Abubakar Saidu. Authorities suspect the pair was central to multiple violent crimes in the region.
Investigators have connected the syndicate to an assault on the Gbagalape community that occurred on May 16, 2026. That incident involved the kidnapping of local residents and resulted in several fatalities and injuries. Iniedu confirmed that the suspects were also responsible for the deaths of victims even after ransom payments were secured.
Following the arrests, officers searched the gang’s base in the Gbagalape Hills. They successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle, 22 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and 17 head of livestock, which police believe were acquired through criminal means. Law enforcement is currently pursuing other members of the group while the detained suspects assist with the investigation.
