Police Arrest Three for Brutal Attack on Rivers CDC Chairman
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a brutal machete attack on Christian Ediegene, the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Okana, in Abua Central, located in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area.
The arrests followed a formal complaint lodged by Ediegene, who recounted his terrifying ordeal in a voice note shared with journalists. According to him, the attack occurred around 7 a.m. on June 29, 2025, as he encountered a group of young men erecting pillars on his farmland. When he confronted them, they allegedly attacked him with machetes, inflicting severe injuries on his head, shoulder, and hand.

“I had to force myself to the main road despite my condition,” Ediegene said. “Thankfully, my community came to my aid and took me to the police station. I’m still recovering and seeking justice.”
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest of three individuals: Young Ezekiel, Isiah a.k.a. Olito, and Onyekachi Paul. She added that others involved in the assault are still at large and currently being sought by law enforcement.

“The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for a thorough investigation,” Iringe-Koko stated, affirming the police’s commitment to bringing all involved to justice.
