Police Arrest Kidnapping Gang and Seize Weapons and Livestock in FCT-Nasarawa Operation

Police dismantled a kidnapping syndicate operating between the FCT and Nasarawa, arresting two suspects and recovering weapons and stolen livestock.

The Nigeria Police Force successfully dismantled a dangerous kidnapping group responsible for numerous abductions and homicides near the border of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State. Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Okon Iniedu, announced on Tuesday that the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) captured two gang members by utilizing advanced surveillance and intelligence gathering.

These operations took place from June 24 to 26, 2026, across Abuja, Gbagalape in the FCT, and Mararaba in Nasarawa. The apprehended individuals, 25-year-old Buhari Adamu and 28-year-old Abubakar Saidu, are reportedly key figures in violent attacks within the region. Authorities have linked the pair to a violent May 16, 2026, raid on the Gbagalape community, which resulted in multiple kidnappings, injuries, and deaths. In some instances, the suspects killed captives even after receiving ransom payments.

Police later searched the gang’s base at Gbagalape Hills, where they retrieved an AK-47, over twenty rounds of ammunition, and stolen livestock including fourteen cows and three sheep. While the investigation continues, officials are working to track down the remaining members of the group. Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the squad for their bravery and professional conduct, reiterating that the police will continue to prioritize intelligence-based strategies to ensure national safety.
