Peter Obi embroiled in new complaint regarding aviation security violations

A formal petition has been submitted to aviation authorities accusing Peter Obi of bypassing security protocols to allow a banned aide to fly using false identities.

A formal complaint has been filed against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, accusing him of facilitating travel for a passenger using fraudulent identification. Submitted on July 12, 2026, the document was directed to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, with copies sent to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

An individual identifying as an aviation industry worker authored the petition, seeking an immediate inquiry into what they characterized as persistent security and regulatory lapses. The core of the accusation involves a female media aide of Obi who was reportedly barred from flying with Air Peace due to prior altercations at airport facilities. The filing alleges that this individual continued to board flights under various aliases, with the former presidential candidate reportedly assisting in these efforts.

The complainant asserted that Obi undermined standard identification protocols by intervening whenever ground personnel attempted to verify the woman’s identity. The petition claims that these actions bypassed safety measures enforced by the airline, with the author providing flight ticket evidence and Passenger Name Record logs to support the allegations of misconduct.
