Peter Obi decries school abductions as an attack on Nigeria’s future

Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has called for urgent action following the kidnapping of students and staff in Kogi State, warning that schools must not become sites of violence.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has denounced the kidnapping of a principal, students, and a NECO official during an exam in Kogi State. He labeled the event as a distressing indicator of the nation’s failing security.

Sharing his thoughts on social media this Wednesday, the former Anambra State governor argued that schools must function as hubs of knowledge instead of soft targets for criminals. He emphasized that the inability of students to participate in national examinations safely exposes the severe damage insecurity has inflicted upon the country.

Obi urged security forces to utilize every available resource to ensure the immediate and safe return of the kidnapped individuals. Furthermore, he requested that government authorities improve protective measures around educational facilities to rebuild public trust. He concluded by sympathizing with the affected families, noting that a country that fails to protect its youth is effectively jeopardizing its own future.
