Championship side Wrexham has officially parted ways with striker Paul Mullin by mutual consent. The 31-year-old, who arrived on a free transfer from Cambridge United in 2021, established himself as a prominent figure under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. During his five-year tenure, he netted 110 goals across 172 appearances, securing three consecutive player of the season accolades.
Manager Phil Parkinson expressed his gratitude for the forward’s significant impact, noting that the settlement allows the player to find a new team. Mullin was instrumental in the club’s 2023 National League title win, which ended a 15-year wait to return to the EFL. Despite overcoming a punctured lung in 2023 and a back injury in 2024, his playing time decreased during the club’s recent rise to the Championship. After loan spells at Wigan Athletic and Bradford City, he returns to free agency. Wrexham credited the Liverpool-born striker with cementing his legacy in the club’s history, citing his vital contributions to their rapid ascension.
