Oyo Man Arrested for Impregnating 14-Year-Old Daughter

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested Kayode Oluwaseunfunmi for allegedly impregnating his 14-year-old daughter in Oluyole Local Government Area.

A government official confirmed on Thursday, July 17, 2025, that concerned individuals rescued the young woman and reported the incident to a journalist.

The journalist alerted the authorities, prompting Oluwaseunfunmi’s arrest and the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) for further investigation. The victim was relocated to an orphanage for safety.

Despite being identified as 24 years old, the woman was described as unable to participate in her Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 examinations due to her seven-month pregnancy. She also stated that the alleged abuse began in December 2024. Since their mother’s death ten years ago, she said their father had raised her and her two siblings alone.

In an emotional plea, the woman urged authorities to show compassion.

“Despite what he did, I still love him deeply. It’s hard to reconcile with the person I know with the actions that have hurt me. I don’t want our family to be broken apart by this situation; we’ve already lost so much. I just wish things could go back to the way they were before all of this. I hope people can see that there’s more to our story and that we need support, not just punishment. My father made a terrible mistake, but I believe there’s a way to heal without completely destroying our family. I want help to find a path forward—to ensure that my siblings and I are safe and cared for. I hope the authorities understand my feelings and consider what’s best for all of us.”

Oluwaseunfunmi remains in SCID custody as legal proceedings advance. Meanwhile, the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion has begun efforts to provide support for the survivor and ensure justice is served.
