Osun Police Apprehend 24 Individuals Over Cultism and Political Unrest

Osun State Police have arrested 24 suspects accused of participating in cult activities and political violence, vowing to maintain order ahead of upcoming elections.

The Osun State Police Command has taken 24 individuals into custody for their alleged involvement in cult-related homicides, political thuggery, and various violent offenses throughout the region. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan presented the suspects to the media at the command headquarters in Osogbo on Monday, emphasizing his dedication to securing the state for upcoming electoral events.

CP Gotan acknowledged recent reports of violence and cult activities, some of which have been linked to political tensions. He confirmed that targeted law enforcement operations led to these arrests, aiming to reassure the public of the police’s resolve to neutralize criminal networks. Among those detained are Kareem Saheed, Oyeladun Muideen, Ridwan Adekola, Mukaila Azeez, Sunday Friday, Olamilekan Fatai, Tiamiyu Ismail, Famuyiwa Adekunle Toib, and Ajiboye Toheed, along with 15 other identified suspects.

Investigations into these individuals remain ongoing. Commissioner Gotan issued a stern warning to anyone intending to destabilize the state, asserting that such behavior will be met with strict legal consequences. He promised that the police force would maintain neutrality and professionalism, prioritizing the safety of all citizens as they prepare for the state’s future elections.
